MEDIA HYPOCRISY ABOUT CHILD ABUSE
The following is a direct quote from a “letter to the editor” by John C. Goodrich of Mystic, CT. It is worth quoting in its totality.
“The liberal media’s feeding frenzy on the issue of child abuse reeks with hypocrisy. How can those who ravenously attack the Catholic Church support abortion, the most hideous barbaric and fatal form of child abuse imaginable?
Where is the front-page reporting of child abuse in the public schools of a magnitude that exceeds what happened in the Catholic Church? Abusive teachers also are shuffled around, their depredations hidden and offenders protected by teacher’s unions. A 2007 Associated Press report on sexual abuse by public school teachers uncovered 2,570 case over a five year period, concluding that the problem is far worse because most cases never get reported. Why are public school teachers and administrators not subjected to the same legal liability imposed on the Catholic Church?
The “get-the-church” crowd can’t tolerate the solid foundation of truth in Catholic teaching that refuses to bend to the will of the progressive agenda and whims of popular opinion.
Strong Catholics will remain faithful and yield fruit a hundredfold. The Catholic Church has survived far worse problems and persecution for more than 2,000 years. It will flourish long after The Day and other media critics are forgotten footnotes in the trash heap of ancient history.” AMEN
